FASHION TRENDS FOR THE NEW SEASON |
Styles are reminiscent of the late 70’s and early 80’s with: bell bottoms; capes; overlay skirts from brocade to denim; extravagant flowing golden sheaths; andromanticized voluminous bows for the bodice.Call them retro couture, period pieces or vintage inspired, the looks are playful, fluid and easy to wear. Classic Blue is Pantone’s color of the year and is found in every article of clothing. However vibrant neon shades are also rampant. Top jewelry trends include the use of, natural materials like shell, stone, raffia, and wood. Putting female sexuality front and center, bra tops from knit to snakeskin are extremely popular. If selecting this new craze, wear with flat abs and a high waisted pant or skirt. Shorts — (remember hot pants?) found in every material, color and shape provide ample ability to move about freely. If this is not a good style for you, bermuda shorts are frequently found to wear alone or as the bottom component of a suit! Using recycled fabrics in creative ways is another trend. The trench coat remains the most popular topper for spring with artful details like crystal trim and bias draping. Lots of crochet, fringe, artful fabric draping, puff sleeves and disco collars (pronounced wide and pointed) are also popular. Acquiring a couple of new pieces each season that work with what you already own is a great way to freshen your wardrobe without breaking the bank. If you haven’t overhauled your closet in a while, the new year is a great time to do that. Partnering with a skilled stylist that knows what should stay and what should go is a wise investment.
